Visit the Discovery centre; our award winning Tourist Information Centre located half way along the front street amongst the gardens.

There are 2 supermarkets within easy reach
- a Co-op just down the road oppsite the harbour.
- a Somerfield store at the other end of town but still only 5-7mins walk away.
- Newsagent - Tofolettis in the square for your early morning papers.
Bishop St (2 mins walk down the hill) has a quality butchers - McQueens - plus Jessmays the greengrocer.
Gifts- Picture Bute is located on the front street near the roundabout. Philip Kirkham, wildlife photographer showcases his work alongside many gifts and souvenirs of Bute. Definately worth a look.
Eating out
- The Kettledrum Cafe - 3 mins walk down Bishop St and 100 yards past the Co-op.
- The Victoria Hotel and Ghillies Bar - Quality a la carte meals upstairs in the Victoria with a pub menu downstairs at Ghillies.
- The Shona Gaon - a very good value Indian serving excellent food next to Ghillies.
- The Waterfront Bistro - good food and generous portions

Museum - Just down the road from Morningside, behind the Castle. open 2-4pm
Rothesay Castle - dating to the 12th century, the castle will give you an overview of the history of the town.
Ettrick Bay - Bute's longest sandy beach. Drop into the Cafe for a coffee or a bite to eat and don't forget to buy the famous tablet confectionery made by TabletbyTrish.
